When talking about reds in the Casablanca Valley, Pinot Noir is undoubtedly the star. This grape variety, known for its delicacy and complexity, has found in Casablanca an ideal terroir to develop its full potential, offering elegant and expressive wines that compete with the best in the world.

A Challenge

Originating from the Burgundy region of France, Pinot Noir is one of the most challenging varieties to cultivate due to its thin skin and sensitivity to climate changes. However, the conditions of the Casablanca Valley, with its cool climate and proximity to the Pacific Ocean, have allowed this grape to thrive, developing a distinctive and sophisticated profile.

Characteristics

The Pinot Noir from Casablanca is distinguished by its aromas of fresh red fruits such as cherry, raspberry, and strawberry, accompanied by spicy and floral notes. On the palate, its silky texture and balanced acidity make it a versatile and highly elegant wine. Its aging in oak barrels adds subtle notes of vanilla and smokiness, complementing its complexity.

Thanks to its light body and soft tannins, Pinot Noir pairs perfectly with white meats such as chicken or turkey, fatty fish like salmon, and even with preparations of mushrooms and truffles. Its versatility makes it an excellent companion for Chilean cuisine, from seafood empanadas to artisanal charcuterie.

An Emblem of the Casablanca Valley

The success of Pinot Noir in Casablanca has solidified the region's reputation as a must-visit destination for wine lovers. The various vineyards in the valley have skillfully interpreted this grape variety, producing wines that stand out in international competitions and position Chile as a world-class producer of Pinot Noir.

Some of our recommendations:

  • Casas del Bosque Pinot Noir Gran Reserva: aromas of red forest fruits combined with notes of earth and bramble, a hint of caramel and spices contributed by the time spent in oak.
  • Quintay Clava: Its aromas remind of spices and fruit jams like cherry, plum, and strawberry. Spicy on the palate as well, with notes of herbs and damp earth, it feels fresh and fruity.
  • Villard Expresión Reserve:bright ruby red color. Its fruity aromas of cherries and strawberries intertwine with the clove notes contributed by aging in French oak foudre
  • Viento Puelche Casa Romero: the perfect harmony of wood added to the fruit, and it is perfect for pairing with white meats.
  • Casa Marín Pinot Noir Cartagena: Elegant and fresh, with notes of red fruits and spices.
  • Bodegas RE Pinotel: Complex and expressive, with a great balance between fruit and acidity.
  • Kingston Family Vineyards Alazan Pinot Noir: Intense and structured, with a long and silky finish.
